Did you sleep badly because of your period? You are not alone: Many menstruating women complain not only about mood swings and pain, but also about problems falling asleep or restless sleep - and blame the cycle.
Is it all in your imagination? No: sleep and cycles are really connected. Especially before and during our periods, we sleep worse due to hormonal factors.
In the so-called inner winter , i.e. shortly before or during your period, your hormone levels and energy levels are at their lowest. Many menstruating women feel increasingly tired and have an increased need for sleep. However, sleep itself is often not as restful during this phase as usual: hormonal changes, stomach cramps and the fear of leaking can affect the duration and quality of sleep.
Establish an evening routine
A daily evening routine can help you unwind and relax. This could be a cup of herbal tea, yoga, meditation or reading a good book.
Put your cell phone away before going to bed!
Screen time late in the evening can make it harder to fall asleep. The blue light from smartphones tricks your brain into thinking it is broad daylight and can disrupt your sleep rhythm. It is therefore recommended that you stop looking at your phone 2 hours before going to bed.
Create a feel-good atmosphere
The bedroom should be quiet and rather cool. The ideal temperature for sleeping is between 16 and 18 degrees. A dark or dimly lit room is best because in the dark the sleep hormone melatonin is released, which makes you tired.
Light dinner
It is best to eat a meal in the evening that is easy to digest. A fatty dinner or too much raw food can mean that the body has to use a lot of energy for digestion in the evening, which in turn can lead to more restless sleep.
Less alcohol and caffeine
Alcohol and caffeine can also have a negative effect on your sleep. It is generally recommended that you avoid coffee after midday - or use a caffeine-free alternative.
No more fear of leakage with period underwear
The fear of leakage also keeps many women* awake. Has the pad slipped? Is it time to change the tampon? We want to take away at least these worries: With ooia period underwear, you don't have to worry about changing it at night. Depending on the model, the highly absorbent panties reliably absorb up to 6 tampons of fluid, so you can feel dry and safe all night long. No matter how much you turn and move during the night, whether you lie on your back, stomach or side; they don't slip and absorb period blood without leaking. What's more, they are made of soft materials and are super comfortable - perfect for snuggling up in bed during your period.

Best investment in my sleep in a long time - ooia customer C.
I am grateful & excited! For example, I wear the panty at night when my period is really heavy. I haven't slept this well in a long time! It feels so safe. - ooia customer L.
The material feels very comfortable and I no longer have to worry about anything slipping while I sleep. - ooia customer S.
Especially brilliant at night, as you don't have to worry about something leaking or slipping! Great!!! Thank you for this enrichment! - ooia customer M.
I wear my shorties on the first two nights of my period because I have a very heavy flow then. But with ooia I am optimally protected all night, no matter how heavy my period is. Most importantly, I can move and turn around and nothing leaks out! - ooia customer M.
