Good intimate hygiene is not as complicated as you might think. We have compiled the most important information and tips on intimate hygiene and period underwear for you.
- Wash the outer and inner labia with your hand or a washcloth, moving the washcloth/hand from the inside to the outside and from front to back
- Clean the outer vulval lips with gentle intimate care products that have a pH value of less than 4.5
- Washing the vaginal area once a day with warm water is enough, because a healthy vaginal flora regulates itself and has an intact immune system
- Using heavily perfumed or harsh shower gel/soap: It can disrupt the pH of the vagina, making it more susceptible to infections
- Using water that is too hot: This can cause the skin to lose its natural oils and fats and could cause redness and itching
- Promote heat and moisture build-up: panty liners, for example, are often made of airtight plastics, which can cause heat build-up and more moisture - ideal conditions for bacteria and fungi
Our ooia period underwear has an integrated membrane system that absorbs liquids and keeps you feeling dry even during heavy bleeding. Because we love natural fibers, we have made sure that natural materials come into contact with your body in as many places as possible. The layer closest to the body is made of super soft merino wool, which quickly wicks moisture away from the body. The outermost layer is a liquid-impermeable membrane that reliably protects you from leaks.
All layers are breathable and ensure that you don't sweat. We give you a deeper insight into how ooias work here: Technology .
To ensure optimal hygiene, you should change your ooia period underwear after 10-12 hours at the latest. After that, you can simply rinse it out with cold water and wash it in the washing machine in a laundry net at 40 degrees during the next wash cycle.
